Why?
Short answer
I don't like loud noises.
Long answer
While Minecraft does offer volume settings, I find that some in-game sounds are still too loud. I use all the Peace and Quiet resource packs from Vanilla Tweaks, but there are still a few packs missing from there that I'd like. So I decided to make my own.

Quieter Fireworks
This is a collection of resource packs that lower the firework sounds to a certain percentage.

This is a collection of resource packs that lower the phantom sounds to a certain percentage.

No Dog Barks
This pack removes dog barks.

No Pumpkin Overlay
This pack hides the pumpkin overlay and replaces it with an orange border with 50% opacity.

This pack mutes enderdragon sounds.
